Instructions:

Adopting an attitude of gratitude is fundamental to every child’s growth and happiness. Towards this end, between November 2019 and November 2020, the Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) wing will creatively encourage children to be thankful for many things in their daily life. Below are some suggestions on how the program can be implemented.

IDEA 1 – GRATITUDE JAR

§ Materials needed – Clear Cookie Jars (any size), 1 small item to fill it with – ideas include beans, pom poms, cotton balls, beads, even small post it sized paper in which children can write etc. You could have one jar per SSE Group or one jar for the Center as a whole.
§ SSE teachers and coordinators will encourage the children, in their SSE classes, to be thankful for things every day. Every time a child is thankful for something and are able to articulate why, give them a bead (or whatever item you have chosen) to add in the jar.
§ For Group 1 and 2, decide on a reward prior to beginning the program. Ideas include pizza party, watching a good movie or using the beads (in this case) to make bracelets for children in hospitals.
§ It is very important for the children to visually see their progress and their attitudes of gratitude. At the same time, they need motivation at a young age too.

IDEA 2 – GRATITUDE ARTWORK

§ Encourage children to creatively draw, sketch or even paint their Attitude of Gratitude posters, canvas’ etc.

IDEA 3 – GRATITUDE CLUB

§ Group 3 and 4 can create a Gratitude Club. This club can locally create ideas to express itself in term of service.

These are mere suggestions. You can get creative. The important thing is that children develop an appreciation for what they have and develop a positive attitude towards everything in life. Challenge yourself and see if you are able to involve the families too. Keep in touch, share your enthusiasm and communicate your progress with us. PLEASE SHARE PICTURES, AUDIO OR EVEN VIDEOS. This can get infectious 🙂

We cannot wait to see creativity blossom in these little hearts.
